Osafune Iesuke O-Tanto, Chu Jo Saku, 1414 NBTHK Hozon, with Koshirae

Features:

A signed and dated chu-Koto O-Tanto by Osafune Iesuke. Together with Tsuneie, they formed what is referred to as the Eikyo-Bizen school, covering early Muromachi period Bizen work from 1420’s to 1460’s.

The blade features a shobu-zukuri shape. There are remnants of a horimono carving of a ken. The nakago is ubu and signed Bishu Osafune Iesukee and dated Oei Ni Jyu Nen San Gatsu Hi (Spring, 1414). The jigane is an itame hada that mixes with a running masame hada. The hamon is aBizen style gunome midare-ba that finishes in a midare-komi boshi. There is a midare utsuri hoving above the hamon. There are activities like yubashiri around the hamon. There is a lateral ware above the habaki.

Along with koshirae including a modern saya.
