SOLD
Features:
A rare specimen, a stunning and powerful sword from the Nanboku-cho period. The blade is made by the famous swordsmith Sanekage from Kaga, ca. 1350, a student of Norishige from the Masamune Juttetsu. It showcases an array of Soshu-den workmanship of the best quality.
Tanobe sensei echoed this sentiment, describing it on the sayagaki:
"Mumei, with a powerful and magnificent shape of the Embun and Joji period. The Hada is clear with an Itame pattern, has thick Jifu, and (the steel) has a strong black color. Chikei intertwines through the Hada. The Hamon is made up with a Notare Gunome pattern, Ashi and Yo appear a lot, has Nie, Hataraki such as Sunagashi, Kinsuji, and Yubashiri appear. The Boshi is in an irregular Hakikake pattern. (The sword) shows a strong character (that is seen on swords made by) Norishige. (The sword) is good and properly preserved. Among those that are around the same attribution, it is especially filled with a majestic feature. The cutting edge length is around 2 shaku 2 sun, 9 bu."
A very rare, and desirable Soshu-den Ju-To.
