A stunning example by one of the top Osaka Shinto masters. This is an early work from ca. Kanbun era, featuring the large pattern O-gunome midare hamon that preceded his acclaimed doranba. The sword features a brilliant kurikara horimono of a dragon entwined with a ken along with a sanskrit bonji for Fudo Myo-O.

The blade features the straighter sugata associated with Kanbun era. The nakago is ubu and signed Echizen no Kami Sukehiro. The jigane is a tight ko-itame hada. The O-gunome hamon finishes in a thick maru boshi. The hamon displays a deep nioi guchi of dense nie with long ashi between gunome formations.
