NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon, with Koshirae
SOLD

Features:

A rare signed and dated chu-Koto O-Tanto by Osafune Tsuneie. Together with Iesuke, they formed what is referred to as the Eikyo-Bizen school, covering early Muromachi period Bizen work from 1420’s to 1460’s.

The blade features the longer nagasa and straighter sugata associated with early Muromachi period tanto. There are bo-hi carved on both sides of a hira-zukuri construction. The nakago is ubu and signed Bishu Osafune Tsuneie and dated Eikyo Roku Nen Hachi Gatsu Hi (Fall, 1434). The jigane is an itame nagare hada. The hamon is a turbulent, Bizen style gunome choji notare-ba that finishes in a midare-komi boshi. There is a midare utsuri hoving above the hamon. There are activities like sunagashi and yubashiri flowing in and around the hamon.

Along with high quality aikuchi-style tanto koshirae.
